Doug Draime

Doug Draime was born in Vincennes, Indiana in 1943. He was part of the notorious Los Angeles poetry scene of the latter 20th century. Adhering to no school
or style of writing, he believes poetry, as well as all art, "must be like axes in the forest of society's insanity." His formal education has been limited to a couple of
semesters at Chicago University and Los Angeles City College; although, he considers his past years on the streets, and a wide range of reading, to be like Post
Graduate studies. His books include: Eyestone and Next Exit: One (w/Bill Shute) from Kendra Steiner Editions, Spiders And Madmen (Scintillating Publications),
Unoccupied Zone (Pitchfork Press), Next Exit: Three (w/Misti Rainwater-Lites), Knox Couunty (Kendra Steiner Editions), Los Angeles Terminal: Poems
1971-1980 (Covert Press) and Dancing On The Skids from Tainted Coffee Press. Forthcoming is a full-length collection from Coatlism Press, Farrago Soup, as
well as two chapbooks: Boulevards Of Oblivion (Tainted Coffee Press), and Rock 'n Roll Jizz coming out from Propaganda Press. His poetry, short stories,
and plays continue to appear in a wide range of publications. He was awared PEN grants in 1987 and 1991 and was nominated for three Pushcart Prizes in 2008.
He currently lives in the foothills of the Siskiyou mountain range in Oregon.
